Our Doctrinal Statement of Faith

The following Doctrinal Statement sets forth the theological position of Springs of Life Camp and Retreat, Inc, providing the basis for our doctrinal agreements and unity.

The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith.

Our Source

The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all we believe, however, that the following Statement of Faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible, and therefore is binding upon all members.

We recognize that any Doctrinal Statement, short of the entire Scriptures, is in itself inadequate. Thus, we acknowledge that every doctrine of Scripture is not listed nor is every Scripture reference applying to each doctrinal point listed.

This statement of doctrine is merely to serve as an outline to define our general interpretation of Scripture. It is a framework which we conclude is consistent with the whole of Scripture.

2 Tim 3:16-17, I Pet 1:23-25, Jn 10:34-35; 17:17

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of God, and inerrant in the original writing, and that they are of supreme and final authority of faith and life.

Jn 10:30; 14:26, Mt 28:19, I Cor 8:6, I Jn 5:7-8

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three  persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jn 1:1-5, 14-18; 14:1-8, Col 1:16-20, Mt 1:18-25

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin, Mary, and is true God and true man.

Gen 1:31; 8:21, Ps 51:5, Eph 2:1-3, Pr 22:15, Jer 17:9

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach the age of moral responsibility, are sinners in thought, word and deed.

Jn 3:16-17; 14:16, Heb 9:22; 10:10, Col 1:22, I Pet 1:19

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitution sacrifice and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.

Gen 2:24; 5:2, Mt 5:28; 19:5, Eph 5:31, Heb 13:4, I Cor 7:2, Rom 1:26-28, I Tim 1:10

We believe that biblical marriage is between one man and one woman and that a sexual relationship is to be expressed only between a married man and woman.

I Jn 2:26-27; 4:15; 5:1, Eph 1:13; 4:3, II Cor 1:21-22

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God.

Jd 24, Jn 3:15-16; 10:28-29b, Eph 4:30, Rom 8:38-39

We believe in the “Eternal Security” of the believer, that it is impossible for one born into the family of God ever to be lost.

Lk 24:1-53, I Thes 4:13-18, Acts 1:1-11

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there as High Priest and Advocate.

Tt 2:12-13, I Thes 14:14-18, Rev 20:1-22:21

We believe in “that blessed hope” – the personal, pre-millennial, pre-tribulational, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, when the church will be “gathered together unto Him.”

I Cor 15:16-17; 51-52, II Cor 5:2, Rom 8:1, 23, Rev 20:11-15, I Jn 3:2

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

Ez 36:25-26; 37:6-10, Zech 12:10; 13:1; 14:3, Jer 16:15-16

We believe in the literal fulfillment of the prophecies and promises of the Scriptures, which foretell and assure the future regeneration and restoration of Israel as a nation.

I Jn 2:26-27; 4:15; 5:1, Eph 1:13; 4:3, II Cor 1:21-22

We believe that the scriptural ordinances of the church are Baptism (immersion) and the Lord’s Supper. That baptism should be administered to the believers only as a symbol of their belief in the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as a testimony to the world of that belief and of their death, burial, and resurrection with Him. That the Lord’s Supper should be partaken by believers only to show forth His death, till He comes.
