Daniel Peters Emergency Story

Daniel Peters has served at Springs of Life Camp since he was courting summer staffer, Lorrie Mastin from Swann Creek over 41 years ago. With a long family history of missions and a love for summer bible camping, Daniel and Lorrie answered the call to oversee the “Nehemiah Project: Facility Restoration of Springs of Life Camp”.

Both alumnus of Piedmont Bible College, Daniel and Lorrie have served as missionaries for youth camps, building projects, and for training and equipping church leaders all over the world.

It seemed just like a normal day…

Thursday August 1st, 2024

“And I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11

While working on a jobsite, Daniel plummeted 14 feet from a ladder and landed in a way that left him unresponsive. With his quick thinking son by his side, the EMT quickly arrived, assessed the seriousness of the situation, and before long, Daniel was being air-lifted to Roanoke, VA. where a Tier-1 Trauma Team was waiting for him to arrive.

On the other side of what seemed like days, we finally got word that Daniel was awake, and able to move his hands and feet. After several tests and examinations, they determined that Daniel would not need surgery despite 11 broken ribs (on one side), multiple fractures in his pelvis, and a fracture in his back.

After multiple restless days working with some amazing medical advisors, Daniel has now been transferred to a Physical Therapy Facility where they will further help him through the next several months of recovery.

The Reality of Today

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” - Romans 15:13

Daniel continues to be a light in the darkness as he testifies God’s goodness in every step of the process. Lorrie and the family take the journey to Roanoke daily and seem to be doing well. Even through the “what if’s? and what’s next?” that are sure to race through their minds, they each have acknowledged that God has him exactly where he supposed to be right now.

With that, Daniel is a part of a much larger circle of family and friends who have been praying for ways that they can help The Peters family during this season.

Our goal is to stand with Daniel and Lorrie as they navigate whatever the Lord is queuing them up for. Please pray with us over these specifics:

  1. The Medical Advisors as they lead in Daniel’s recovery treatment.

  2. The family as they take things day to day right now.

  3. The family business as they keep things going while Daniel recovers.

  4. The Lord’s provision of the finances for the medical and travel expenses.
